As announced last night during the airing of NXT TakeOver: War Games, the next NXT TakeOver show will take place on a Sunday, Feb. 16 in Portland, OR.
WWE wants all of their big shows on Sundays to avoid Saturday night boxing fights and whatever other combat competition. The belief is the company found something or they just feel like viewership on the WWE Network is much stronger on Sundays than Saturdays.
The upcoming NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II show, scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 12, will be a test run to see how a TakeOver show does on Sunday. If it works, Sunday should be the day moving forward.
However, WWE still has a “Worlds Collide” event scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25 over Royal Rumble weekend. They’re also planning a TakeOver show during WrestleMania weekend.
